Hi! The way I figure it, you honor me by subscribing to my newsletter or joining a class or even just sending me an email note, so the least I can do is keep your info to myself. I value your privacy.
- I don’t ask for personal information unless its needed to help me offer you something you want or to improve my service and, of course, you never have to give it.
- I won’t share your personal information with anyone, unless a court or subpoena says I’ll get in real trouble if I don’t.
Website Visitors
Like most website operators, my website ColinBeavan.com collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. I may sometimes use that non-personally-identifying information to better understand how visitors use use my website. I don’t share it.
I use Google Analytics, which gives me aggregated information about visitors such as what country they are from etc. But Google Analytics and other elements of the technology that runs the website (for example, I use Discus to allow readers to leave comments) also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (that is the Internet “address” of your computer). Some of that information is visible to me. I don’t share it unless someone with handcuffs or a judge or someone who can otherwise do me legal harm forces me to.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
You might, when you visit ColinBeavan.com, choose to interact in ways that require it to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, visitors who comment on the blog have to provide a username and email address. If you sign up for my newsletter, you have to leave your email address.
If you choose to send me money for a class or group coaching (I generally use PayPal or Venmo), then you may have to give those services bank or credit card info. I never see or store that info, though I may receive, for example, your mailing address.
In each case, I only collect information that is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with me and my website. I don’t disclose personally-identifying information other except if required to by law. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Aggregated Statistics
It’s possible that I could collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, I may monitor which is the most visited page. I may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, that information is not personally identifying.
Protection And Use of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
The only people who might ever see information of yours that I have collected as mentioned above are me or someone who works for me. But they too, have agreed never to pass it along to others. By using website and Internet services, you consent to this.
I will will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.
If you are a registered subscriber to my newsletter, I may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with me.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. The technology that hosts and uses my website and emails may identify and track visitors, their usage of my website, and their website access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using my website, with the drawback that certain features may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
