You know, every so often I do a Google search for jokes about environmentalists, hoping to find one to post here on the blog. One thing I think people like me sorely miss is poking fun at ourselves. We should joke around more.
I often say to Isabella, my three-year-old “Why were we born?”
She answers, “To laugh.”
Then I say, “What is our job?”
She says, “To make sure other people can laugh, too.”
I admit, of course, to brainwashing her to say this. But she enjoys it and so do I. Meanwhile, I admit that I am often an abysmal failure at manifesting this philosophy. I surprise myself at the terrible mistakes I make that make people cry instead of laugh, but that’s a different story.
My point is, if we aren’t going to joke around, is the planet even worth saving?
